Dublin five-piece Ghost Estates release their debut album this Saturday, June 9th, in the Button Factory. It’s €5 in and there’s a nice supporting bill too, in the shape of The Mighty Stef and White Collar Boy.
Ghost Estates have been plying their trade for about two years now and took the rather strange decision to write and record their debut album before they had ever played live. Previous singles ‘Paris’ and ‘October’ were solid indications that such an experiment had worked a treat and now their debut album has confirmed this to be the case. From driving riff-led numbers (‘Wake Up’, ‘Winters Day’) to stripped-back acoustic splendour (‘Shanty’) and cracking pop tunes (‘Forever Or Never’, ‘Never Forget’) , it’s a convincing debut album and one which successfully infuses a slight touch of the electronic over what is essentially a strong set of well crafted guitar tunes.
